Blizzard - Part 1

It is early on a cold November morning and Phil and Mary Thomas' breath is clearly visible in front of their muzzles. They stand, hand in hand at the middle of the large park, sharing the tranquil silence while the city is still asleep. The odd car goes by, accompanied by the almost sinister whisper of it's engine. It does not disturb the happy couple as they start to walk across the park past a pair of benches, painted in a neat red and green scheme. This draws Mary's attention for a moment, the simple yet elegant aesthetics of a bench painted in red and green. She turns to Phil and says, "In our new house we should have..." Her sentence interrupted by an involuntary gasp. The pace of her breathing quickens and she feels her heart thumping in her chest. "It's time." She stutters to Phil who carefully picks her up, the muscles in his arms bulging, and carries her over to one of the benches, laying her down.
"Ok," he says, his face visibly whitening, even under his dark fur. "Just keep breathing and I'll call the ambulance."
